C.D. Leganés reached an agreement on Friday to sign 28-year-old Rubén Pardo Gutiérrez. The midfielder spent last season loaned out from Bordeaux and now has signed for the next two seasons, with an option for a third, after leaving the French club.
Pardo was a key player at the Butarque last season, playing 38 official matches and producing four goals and four assists. Voted by fans as the team's player of the season, he received the Premio Mahou. The midfielder from Rincón de Soto also received an award from LaLiga as the February's player of the month.
Nine seasons and nearly 200 games in the First Division
A player capable of leading the team from midfield, his striking ability led to several goals for the team last season, including from set-pieces. With nearly 200 appearances for Real Sociedad and nine seasons in the Primera División (he also played for Real Betis), the former Spain U21 international returns to the Butarque after spending the pre-season with Girondins and featuring in the match against Olympique de Marseille on matchday two.
Rubén will immediately start training with Asier Garitano's squad, and will wear the number 1 shirt.
