C.D. Leganés reached an agreement on Friday with 26-year-old attacking midfielder Daniel Raba Antolín, who becomes a new player for the next two seasons, with an option for a third. The Cantabrian player has spent most of his professional career at Villarreal C.F., although he arrives from Granada C.F.
Raba, a native of Santander, was formed since 2014 in the Villarreal youth academy, passing through the 'C' and 'B' teams until reaching the first team, with which he debuted in October 2017 in Copa del Rey against Ponferradina. Days later, he made his debut in First Division, scoring his first goal in LaLiga Santander precisely in Butarque against Leganés. In that 2017/18 season he would end up playing 29 games with the first team, making his debut in European competitions, scoring four goals and providing five assists.
The following year he became a full member of the Yellows first team, being loaned out in the 2019/20 season to S.D. Huesca, with whom he would win promotion to LaLiga Santander. In the 2020/21 season, he would return to the Villarreal discipline, winning the Europa League and scoring a penalty in the shootout against Manchester United.
Europa League Champion in 2021 with Villarreal
Last season began in Castellón, playing for the first time in the Champions League and in the European Super Cup, again scoring one of the penalty kicks in the shootout, although this time Emery's side lost to Chelsea. After the winter transfer window, Raba moved to Granada C.F., with whom he would compete in the second half of the season in LaLiga Santander.
Now, the Cantabrian footballer arrives at Butarque to join Pepinero until the end of the 2023/24 season, with an option for another year. A left-footed player, capable of playing on either flank or in midfield, he will bring speed, quality and competitiveness to the Blue and Whites' attack. His presentation date will be announced shortly.
