C.D. Leganés 'B' striker Diego García made his debut this Sunday in an official match with the first team in the match against U.D. Logroñés. The 21-year-old forward played the last three minutes plus five minutes of added time in the victory of the Blue and Whites against the Riojanos.
Diego, with the '32' on his back, replaced Sabin Merino in the 87th minute, thus making his debut with the first team and in LaLiga SmartBank. This was the finishing touch to a great season in which he has been one of the architects of the promotion of the pepinero subsidiary to the Second Division RFEF, scoring thirteen goals that made him the top scorer in Group 7 of the Third Division.
"I have a lot to give in this club, if the coach of the first team counts on me I will help Leganés to be where it deserves".
Diego García arrived this past summer to the pepinero subsidiary coached by Carlos Martínez from the Rayo Vallecano youth academy, and soon became an indisputable in the lineups of the coach from Extremadura, playing the twenty-six regular league and 'play-off' matches and being one of the sensations of the team. The striker was happy at the end of the match: "After a lot of hard work and passion for soccer, the reward has arrived. It is one more step, but there is still a long way to go and I have a lot to give in this club. With the reserve team we have achieved the objective in an incredible season, but if the first team coach counts on me I will help Leganés to be where they deserve to be," he said.
