As if it was today… 22 years ago Leganés won against David Vidal’s Hércules at Butarque (2-1). This would be the 1997/98 season’s last win for the pepineros. Pedro Braojos’ team recovered from Hércules’ goal and got three points with the goals scored by Stojiljkovic and Paquito.
It was the 38th matchday of the season and the pepineros were comfortable at their spot on Segunda División’s league table. It was the first season that the team played at Butarque. Braojos’ initial squad was: Unanua, Óscar, Pedro Largo, Mesas, Moj, Llorens, Alfredo, Jaime, José Mari, Paquito and Stojlijkovic. Vidal, Aitor Tornavaca and Juanmi played on the second half.
Hércules started winning the match after a strong shoot by Sandro who scored on the first minutes but Lega managed to recover and comeback before half time: Stojiljkovic scored the goal that tied up the match and Paquito the winner after an Alfredo´s assistance.
