As if it was today… five years ago Leganés got a point against Sabadell at Butarque (1-1) and reached the survival on second division. The pepineros did it with four matches remaining for the end of the season and were closer to promotion spots rather than relegation.
It was the 38th matchday of the season and Leganés was almost safe from relegation. The teamwas looking to get closer to promotion spots. Asier Garitano’s squad was: Serantes, Rubén Peña, Mantovani, Postigo, César Soriano, Eraso, Erik Morán, Alberto Martín, Aguirre, Sergio Prendes and Chuli. Velasco, Rabello and Fran Moreno played on the second half.
The pepineros scored early in the match through Postigo with a header after Aguirre´s corner kick. The team had some occasions to increase the lead but could not finalize them. Sabadell tied the match with a shoot by Eguaras on second half. At the end both teams summed a point, and this allowed Leganés to mathematically secure the survival and be six points away from playoffs spots with for matches remaining for the end of the season.
