C.D. Leganés and Mehdi Nafti will not continue together next season. The French-Tunisian coach will not continue in the pepinero dugout in the 2022/23 season, putting an end to his time as Blanquiazules' coach seven months after his arrival at Butarque.
Nafti arrived at Leganés at the beginning of November 2021, replacing Asier Garitano and with the team in the relegation places to the Primera RFEF after thirteen games. With him in the dugout, Lega achieved mathematical relegation with three games to spare, recording eleven wins, eleven draws and seven defeats in twenty-nine league games, as well as overcoming two Copa del Rey play-offs, losing narrowly in the round of 32 to Real Sociedad.
"Heartfelt thanks to everyone who has helped me in this wonderful experience"
"I feel very proud and satisfied for everything we have experienced. Now we think it is better to go our separate ways. We don't want to do it without first giving heartfelt thanks to everyone who has helped in this wonderful experience. Best wishes to the club, the fans and the whole city," said Nafti.
The club would like to thank Mehdi Nafti and the rest of his coaching staff for their dedication, professionalism and commitment during the months they have been at Butarque, as well as wishing them the best of luck in their next stages both personally and professionally.
