C.D. Leganés beats C.E. Sabadell and gets back to winning ways (2-1)

C.D. Leganés beat C.E. Sabadell at the Estadio Municipal Butarque (2-1), in a match corresponding to the thirty-third round of LaLiga SmartBank. José Arnaiz and Róber Ibáñez scored for the Pepineros in the first half, while Rubio closed the gap in the second.

Asier Garitano made five changes from the team that played last Thursday in Mallorca: Bustinza, Rubén Pérez, Eraso, José Arnaiz and Borja Bastón replaced Palencia, Rosales, Luis Perea, Shibasaki and Sabin Merino.

Arnaiz and Róber Ibáñez gave Leganés the lead in the first half.

The Pepineros came out looking for the rival goal, with a first shot by Bustinza in minute 4 that Mackay caught safely. The Blue and Whites, wearing their third kit in commemoration of the Health Day to be celebrated this coming Wednesday, were to take the lead in their next approach: Bustinza crossed from the right, Borja Bastón left it to Arnaiz and the latter, with his left foot, connected a dry shot that became 1-0. It was the talaverano's fifth goal in the championship.

The visitors tried to react by advancing lines and wanting to have more possession. In minute 26, Eraso carried out a great individual action in which he got away from his marker and looked for the far post, but his shot went just wide of the left post. Eraso himself was the protagonist of the action of the 2-0 in 29': the player from Navarre assisted Róber Ibáñez to connect a dry shot against which Mackay could do nothing. It was the second goal in LaLiga for the Valencian.

In 37', Asier Garitano was forced to make his first substitution due to Bustinza's injury, with Rosales coming on in his place as Sabadell made their first two changes. Shortly after, the referee disallowed a Borja Bastón goal that was ratified by the VAR for a very tight offside. The score was 2-0 at halftime.

Rubio closed the gap in the second half, but the points stayed at home.

The visitors came out intensely in the second half, forcing Riesgo to intervene twice in minute 50. In 58', a long-range shot by Guruzeta hit the post and, immediately afterwards, Sabadell shortened the gap through Rubio with a shot that deflected off the defense and into Riesgo's goal. Asier Garitano looked to refresh the team by making a double substitution, bringing on Luis Perea and Juan Muñoz in place of Rubén Pardo and Eraso. The 3-1 was about to come in the 64', in a lateral free kick taken by Juan Muñoz that crashed against the post after touching a defender.

The Arlequinados kept trying, and had a great chance in the boots of Guruzeta that was saved by Riesgo in a one-on-one situation. Leganés responded with a left-footed shot from Juan Muñoz in 69' that didn't find the target. Asier Garitano made his last substitutions with Borja and Róber, with discomfort, coming on for Tarín and Gaku. Arnaiz almost scored the third in a one-on-one that Mackay stopped, and Adri Cuevas responded in minute 79 with a shot that went near the post.

From there to the end, the pepineros defended their income and managed to certify a victory that places them in fourth position, with 57 points. Their next game will be next Sunday (21:00) against R.C.D. Espanyol at the RCDE Stadium.
