C.D. Leganés and Getafe C.F. reached an agreement on Monday for the season-long loan of 26-year-old striker Darío Poveda Romera. The attacker from Alicante, who finished last season in the ranks of F.C. Cartagena, becomes the third reinforcement of the club this summer.
Raised in Villarreal C.F.'s youth academy from the youth category, he went through all the lower echelons of the groguet club until making his debut with the first team and in LaLiga Santander in August 2017 in a match against Levante U.D. In that same season he would also make his debut in European competitions, playing a UEFA Europa League match against Maccabi Tel Aviv.
After making his debut with the Spanish U-19 national team, Poveda signed for Atlético de Madrid in 2018, standing out in his first season in the red and white youth team. After scoring ten goals in his first ten games of the 2019/20 season, he made his debut with the first colchonero team under Diego Pablo Simeone in a match at Los Cármenes against Granada C.F. An injury cut short his progression that season, returning to the field in March 2021, already in the Getafe C.F. shirt.
Experience in LaLiga Santander, LaLiga SmartBank and European competitions.
After starting the 2021/22 season with the azulón team, scoring two goals in the first half of the season, in January he was loaned to S.D. Huesca to return to enjoy continuity and minutes in LaLiga SmartBank. Last season, he played the first half of the season with U.D. Ibiza, while in the second half he played for F.C. Cartagena, a club with which he scored three goals in the final part of the championship.
An attacking player, Dario Poveda is a striker who can act as a reference, as a second part or even starting from the side. With a good aerial game and physical qualities, he has the ability to associate and look for finishing positions to reach the goal. Poveda will join Borja Jiménez's team immediately, and his presentation date will be communicated soon. Welcome, Darío!
