C.D. Leganés presents its new third kit for the 2023/24 season. Under the slogan 'Rare diseases, unique people', the shirt pays tribute to people suffering from rare diseases.
The jersey is composed of the colors associated with rare diseases, those that affect fewer than five out of every 10,000 inhabitants. There are many people who live with them (more than 300 million in the world, three million in Spain), since it is estimated that there are more than 7,000 rare diseases, of which 6,172 are currently identified.
Ever since our club learned a few seasons ago about the story of Uriel Morales, a ten-year-old boy affected by Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, Leganés has wanted to give visibility to this type of rare diseases, something that is reflected this season more than ever by wearing its colors on its third kit. Uriel himself is one of the protagonists of the promotional spot along with Pedro, Irene and Mario, who also suffer from a disease classified as rare.
The presentation took place on Wednesday, June 21 in an event attended by Jeff Luhnow, president of C.D. Leganés; Mónica del Arco, marketing manager and director of events and sponsorship activation of Joma, technical sponsor of the club; and Mónica Rodríguez, member of the board of directors of the Spanish Federation of Rare Diseases (FEDER).
Statements by the three
In addition, as part of the collaboration agreement between C.D. Leganés and FEDER, 10% of the profits from the sale of these shirts will go to FEDER for their research work on rare diseases. Likewise, the club will carry out different actions during the season to continue the campaign to raise awareness of this group.
But it will not only be the third kit shirt that will carry the colors of rare diseases. In this season 2023/24, our captain will wear an armband with the colors present in the logo of the World Rare Disease Day, which is celebrated every February 29th.
Technical characteristics of the Joma T-shirt
