Get to know the top 10 football players with the most official matches with the club

There are a lot of football players that have worn the white and blue jersey to defend C.D Leganés since its foundation on 1928. However, there are few that can say that they are among the players with the most games played with the club.

The club has compiled historical data from 1974/75 season to the present time. Unfortunately, the access to reliable sources of information before that season is limited.

Aguilera is the leader with 460 matches with the team. Miguel Ángel and Óscar complete the podium

Javier Aguilera is leading the ranking. The historic goalkeeper played 460 matches with the Leganés jersey on thirteen consecutive seasons with as a pepinero between 1983 and 1996. It will be a hard number to equal by any other player in the seasons that come.

Second on the podium is Miguel Ángel. The club’s máximum scorer according to the official records of the club with 74 goals have played as a pepinero for 302 official matches during nine seasons on two phases: the first between 1991 and 1997 and the second between 2000 and 2003.

Óscar Fernández is third: the famous right back wore the white and blue jersey for 300 times on for nine seasons between 1994 and 2003.

Dorado and Raúl Arribas complete the top 5

Completing the top 5 we have the second goalkeeper with most appearances: Raúl Arribas. He has been at 221 official matches as a pepinero during seven seasons between 1998 and 2005.

David, Mesas and Julián Ronda are the sixth, seventh and eighth on the list

David Díaz-Guerra is sixth. The midfielder has 209 appearances on six seasons as a pepinero between 1990 and 1996.

With the same number of matches is José Jesús Mesas who also played for six seasons with the club between 1992 and 1998.

Eighth and closing the list of the players with more than 200 official matches with the club is Julián Ronda who sadly passed away on 2015.

Raúl Moreno and Chuso complete the top 10

Ninth position is for Raúl Moreno. The goalkeeper that replaced Raúl Arribas got to play a great number of matches with the club (175 in five seasons played between 2005 and 2010).

Closing the top 10 is Jesús de Jesús Juana “Chuso”, who was part of the squad that reached the club’s first promotion to Segunda División on 1993. He was a pepinero for six seasons between 1990 and 1996 and 170 official matches.

Eraso is the first player of the current squad to get to the ranking

C.D Leganés midfielder Javi Eraso is just seven games away from being among the ten football players in the club's history with the most official matches. The player from Navarra has been with the team on 163 matches and is 11th in most appearances.

Eraso arrived to Leganés on 2013 and this is his fifth season as a pepinero. On his first stage he played for two consecutive seasons and returned to the team on 2017. Recently Eraso renewed his commitment with the team until 2022 with the option for an extra season.

Eraso will have the opportunity to get among the top 10 players with the most appearances with the team (according to data from mid 70’s). Right now, the player is 12th on that ranking with the same appearances as José María Rodríguez “May” and four matches away from Martín Mantovani (167 appearances).
