C.D. Leganés is in mourning after learning this Thursday morning, June 10, of the death of Mr. Salustiano Toribio Montes at the age of 106. This favorite son of our city and historical subscriber of the club showed his love for the club until his last day.
Born on October 16, 1914, Salustiano knew all the fields where Leganés has played throughout its history: the Campo de Tiro, the Luis Rodríguez de Miguel or Butarque, whose grass he stepped on for the last time on April 21 when he was able to leave the Los Balcones Residence for the first time, where he was currently staying after being vaccinated against Covid-19 in February.
Salustiano was already recognized by the club in 2016, when he performed the kick of honor prior to the match against Sevilla F.C. at Butarque, one of the first that the club played at home in the First Division in its history. At 102 years of age, he was finally able to watch a Leganés match in the First Division. Salustiano was recently featured in theclub's "Forever" campaign. Because Salustiano is forever. May he rest in peace.
