C.D. Leganés and S.S. Lazio reached an agreement on Thursday to sign 28-year-old left-back Riza Durmisi on a season-long loan deal. The Danish international, who has experience in LaLiga with Real Betis, strengthens the left-back position for Imanol Idiakez's side for the current 2022/23 campaign.
Durmisi is an attacking full-back who is an attacking midfielder who can be deployed in attack without neglecting his defensive duties. A native of Copenhagen, he came through the youth ranks at Brondby I.F., making his debut in 2012 with the first team, where he remained until 2016, when he made the leap to LaLiga with Real Betis. With Los Verdiblancos he played two seasons, in which he participated in 54 official matches, scoring three goals and providing seven assists.
Experience in the Spanish, Italian, French and Dutch leagues and a full international with Denmark.
After two years in Spain, S.S. Lazio finalised his signing in the summer of 2018, with Durmisi making his debut in the Italian Serie 'A'. In his first season in Rome he was crowned cup winner and played in the Europa League, but after not having many opportunities in his second season as a Lazio player, he was loaned out to French side Nice in January 2020. The following year he returned to Italy with Salernitana, while last season he competed in the Netherlands with Sparta Rotterdam.
Durmisi has 23 senior caps for Denmark, where he made his international debut in 2015 after coming through the youth ranks. He will join the Pabellon side immediately, on loan for this season with an option to extend his contract with the club from 2023. He will wear the number '22' and his presentation will take place next week.
Welcome, Durmisi!
