The defender scored the winning goal in the match that the blue and white team played against Ourense C.F., corresponding to the first elimination of the Copa de S.M. El Rey.

The 102nd minute of the match passed when C.D. Leganés enjoyed a corner on the left side of his attack. The Swiss midfielder Kevin Bua put the ball to the second post and Sergio Gonzalez appeared after freeing his mark to cross the ball with his head and score the winning goal.
It was his first goal with the pepineros team in his third official match as a blue and white. The '6' of Leganés had played the first two league matches against U.D. Las Palmas and C.D. Lugo, and in the Cup he had minutes again, playing the complete match and making his debut as a scorer in a competition in which he had already scored last season, with C.D. Mirandés in the field of Coruxo F.C.
