C.D. Leganés were unable to win 2-1 away to R.C. Celta at the Estadio Abanca Balaídos, in a match corresponding to the 27th LALIGA EA SPORTS matchday. Rosier gave Leganes the lead, but Mingueza and Alfon scored the comeback goals for Celta.
Leganés came out with four changes to their line-up from the win against Getafe six days ago, with Renato Tapia, who returned to the team after serving a suspension and to Balaídos after four seasons as a Celta player, Óscar Rodríguez, Juan Cruz and Diego García, who was the main man up front for Leganés, coming into the eleven. On the occasion of Women's Day, our players took to the pitch wearing the shirts of our women's team players.
Rosier gave Lega the lead assisted by Juan Cruz, but Celta came back before the break
The game started with equality on the pitch, with Lega trying to take the initiative through arrivals, especially on the right flank through Rosier and Juan Cruz, who were active in the first few minutes. In the 18th minute, Juan Cruz himself was to be the protagonist in the first goal of the afternoon: the ‘11’ won the duel with Marcos Alonso, put the ball back for Valentin Rosier, who crossed his shot to beat Guaita and score the 0-1. It was the French full-back's first goal of the season.
The advantage was short lived, as in the 25th minute Celta equalised through Mingueza, who crossed a low shot past Dmitrovic to make it 1-1. Lega tried to recover with a shot from Óscar in the 28th minute that went over, and with another shot from Diego García in the 30th minute that Guaita deflected for a corner. A corner kick was again headed over by Tapia, but his centred header was blocked by the Vigo goalkeeper.
In the 37th minute, Díaz de Mera Escuderos awarded Celta a penalty for an action between Nastasic and Borja Iglesias, for which he also sent off the Serbian centre-back. However, Trujillo Suárez, using the VAR, alerted the referee from Castilla-La Mancha, who corrected his decision and cancelled both the penalty and the second yellow card for the ‘ 22’. In the added time of the first half, Celta took the lead through Alfon, who scored the 2-1 in a one-on-one. The home side took the lead into the break.
Insistence without first in the second half
The second half began with Borja Jiménez's first change, bringing on Jorge Sáenz in the centre of defence in place of the cautioned Nastasic. The first goal was again Lega's, with Rosier putting in the killer pass for Óscar, but Jailson prevented the goal, as did Guaita in the subsequent corner that Diego García headed in. Leganés dominated more, reaching three quarters of the pitch with assiduity and generating a sense of danger, as in another Rosier shot in the 56th minute that was blocked low by Guaita.
Rosier again in the 62nd minute broke down the right, but couldn't find the final pass to score a goal. In the 67th minute, Lega made a double substitution, with Raba and Miguel de la Fuente replacing Cissé and Diego García in search of the equaliser, with the Pepineros switching to a line of four in defence and moving Tapia forward. Miguel himself had his first chance in the 72nd minute with a right-footed shot that went just wide of the post.
Duk and Chicco came on in the final stages to try to get Leganés to score the equaliser. The Cape Verdean had a couple of dangerous runs down the left flank, but none of his team-mates were able to capitalise. In the 89th minute, Pablo Durán scored for Celta, but the goal was disallowed for offside. Raba had the last chance in added time, but his shot did not find the net and the three points stayed in Vigo.
Leganés remain on 27 points in the standings, with their next game coming on Sunday 16 (14:00) at Butarque against Real Betis.
