C.D. Leganés were unable to win in their visit to the Benito Villamarín, losing to Real Betis (2-0), in a match corresponding to the fifth matchday of LALIGA EA SPORTS. Abde and Vitor Roque, both in the final third of the game, scored the goals for the green-and-white side.
Haller's disallowed goal and Juan Soriano's great intervention against Abde in a very even first half.
Leganés returned to LALIGA EA SPORTS with an eleven in which the main novelty was the official debut of Sébastien Haller as a Pepeños player after his arrival on the last day of the market. The Ivorian-Frenchman played up front, with a former Betis player like Juan Cruz and Franquesa flanking him on the flanks, and Brasanac and Óscar as interiors. The home side came out strong, trying to put Juan Soriano's goal under siege from the start, but Lega knew how to suffer in those first few minutes and tried to slow down the momentum through the ball.
Yvan Neyou, after a long spell of possession, had Lega's first shot in the 19th minute, a right-footed shot that went wide. In the 21st minute, Haller headed home a good delivery from Javi Hernández, but referee González Fuertes disallowed the goal for a close offside. Betis responded in the 37th minute with an Abde finish, but the keeper made a great save to save the first goal of the night. With the score at 0-0 at half-time, the game went into the break.
Abde, in the 73rd minute, opened the scoring for Betis, who then scored through Vitor Roque.
The second half started with a double substitution by Borja Jiménez, who brought on Alti and Nastasic, who was also making his debut in an official match for Betis, in place of Juan Cruz and Jorge Sáenz. Sergio González had to save a dangerous goal in a few minutes in which Betis again pressed in search of a goal. On the hour mark, another double substitution from Lega, with Tapia and Cissé coming on to strengthen the midfield in place of Franquesa and Óscar.
And in the 65th minute it was Neyou who asked for a substitution with physical problems, forcing Borja Jiménez to run out of substitutions, bringing on Chicco. The home side's drive was finally rewarded with a goal in the 73rd minute, when Abde finished off a run down the right by Bellerín to beat Juan Soriano and make it 1-0. Lega tried to recover from the blow, with moves by Cissé and Alti that did not end in a finish and a double action by Darko and Tapia that went wide without danger.
In the 83rd minute, Javi Hernández tried his luck with a cross-shot that went just wide and forced Rui Silva to intervene. But in the 85th minute, Betis were to score the second through Vitor Roque, who took advantage of a rebound from Juan Soriano to score and seal the win for the Verdiblancos. There was no time for more, and Leganés, who remain with five points in the table, are now preparing for their next game, this coming Thursday (19:00) at Butarque against Athletic Club.
