In minute 25, Atleti had another chance, with a shot against the post by Griezmann and subsequent intervention by Dmitrovic. Nastasic, from a corner kick by Raba, scored at the start of the second half
The second half started with the first change by Borja Jiménez, who brought on Darko Brasanac in place of Javi Hernández, with Juan Cruz moving to the wing-back position. The second half got off to a good start for Lega, as in 49 minutes the Pepineros took the lead, with Dani Raba taking a corner from the left and Nastasic heading into the net for his first goal of the season, making it the 1-0.
Atlético tried to react by introducing changes from the bench, but Leganés defended with order and did not allow the red and white team to create clear chances. In minute 72, the second Blue and Whites' substitution came, with Jorge Sáenz coming on in place of the injured Raba. Miguel had a chance in minute 73 with a shot that narrowly missed Brasanac, with the more than 12,000 spectators that populated Butarque cheering on their team.
Griezmann, in the 90th minute, failed a penalty after VAR review
