Lega beats Atleti to win again at Butarque (1-0)

Nastasic's header at the start of the second half gave the win to the Pepineros. Griezmann missed a penalty in the 90th minute.

C.D. Leganés achieved an important victory against Atlético de Madrid at the Estadio Municipal Butarque (1-0), in the 20th matchday of LALIGA EA SPORTS. Matija Nastasic, with a header from a corner at the start of the second half, scored the winning goal.

Juan Cruz had Lega's best chance in the first half, and Griezmann hit the post

Leganés came out with up to six changes compared to the Copa del Rey match in Almería, with Dmitrovic, Rosier, Raba, Neyou, Juan Cruz and Miguel de la Fuente returning to the eleven. Juan Cruz himself had the first chance of the match in the first minute with a right-footed shot that went just wide of Oblak's right-hand post. Atlético responded in minute 11 with a right-footed shot by Julián Álvarez that hit the top corner of Dmitrovic's goal in the first clear chance for the red and white team. In minute 14, Julián Álvarez had another chance, but the Pepineros's goalkeeper turned it behind for a corner.

Miguel was about to take advantage of a short pass from Le Normand to Oblak, but the Slovenian came out quickly to stop the option and the defense blocked Raba's subsequent shot. In minute 25, Atleti had another chance, with a shot against the post by Griezmann and subsequent intervention by Dmitrovic. In minute 31, it was Lega who had the chance in the boots of Juan Cruz assisted by Cissé, but the shot of the '11' with his left foot was saved with difficulty by Oblak. With the 0-0 score at halftime.

Nastasic, from a corner kick by Raba, scored at the start of the second half

The second half started with the first change by Borja Jiménez, who brought on Darko Brasanac in place of Javi Hernández, with Juan Cruz moving to the wing-back position. The second half got off to a good start for Lega, as in 49 minutes the Pepineros took the lead, with Dani Raba taking a corner from the left and Nastasic heading into the net for his first goal of the season, making it the 1-0.

Atlético tried to react by introducing changes from the bench, but Leganés defended with order and did not allow the red and white team to create clear chances. In minute 72, the second Blue and Whites' substitution came, with Jorge Sáenz coming on in place of the injured Raba. Miguel had a chance in minute 73 with a shot that narrowly missed Brasanac, with the more than 12,000 spectators that populated Butarque cheering on their team.

Griezmann, in the 90th minute, failed a penalty after VAR review

In minute 79', Butarque gave a standing ovation to Dani Raba, who was replaced by Roberto López, and shortly after, it was Diego García who replaced Miguel de la Fuente to give a final boost to the local club's attack. The key moment came in 88', when Melero López, at the request of the VAR, signaled a penalty for Sergio González's hands inside the area. Griezmann took the kick, but his shot went to the left of Dmitrovic to the delight of players, coaches and fans.

Lega defended the seven minutes of added time to win again at Butarque at the start of the second round and move to 22 points in the table. Their next match will come on Sunday 26th (18:30) at San Mamés against Athletic Club.
