C.D. Leganés were unable to score in their LALIGA EA SPORTS matchday sixteen game against Real Sociedad at the Estadio Municipal Butarque (0-3). Brais Méndez, in the first half, and Barrenetxea and Oyarzabal, in the second half, scored the visitors' goals.
Brais Méndez gave Real Sociedad the lead in the first half
Leganés came out with two changes to their line-up compared to last time out at Mendizorroza: Cissé and Miguel de la Fuente came on in place of Juan Cruz and Dani Raba, who was left out of the squad with injury. The game started with Lega trying to press on their opponents' goal, but it was Real Sociedad who took an early lead, in the 13th minute through Brais Méndez, who headed in a cross from the left to make it 0-1.
Leganés looked to respond quickly, and in the 19' Neyou had the chance after a good cross from Rosier, which the Cameroonian shot high from close range. The visitors were looking to gain possession against a Leganés side that tried to get inside, with Cissé and Óscar between the lines. In the 36th minute, Dmitrovic appeared to save a shot from Sucic in the six-yard box and prevent the visitors' second goal. Lega answered in the 39' with a play between Óscar and Miguel, whose cross was not finished by Diego García. And in the other 43', Óscar failed to find the target with a left-footed shot from the edge of the area. With the score at 0-1, the half-time whistle blew.
Barrenetxea and Oyarzabal scored in the final stages of the second half
The second half started without any changes, with a good first chance for Óscar in the 53' with a diving header that Remiro put away for a corner with a great intervention. The more than eleven thousand spectators in the Butarque stadium were in their seats, just before Juan Cruz came on in the 55' to replace Cissé in search of a more attacking attacking threat. Neyou tried again in the 60' with a right-footed shot that went wide.
Miguel tried again with two chances in the second half, but in the 78‘ it was the visitors’ second, through the newly introduced Barrenetxea, who took advantage of a loose ball in the area to make it 2-0. Munir came on for Tapia in search of a reaction from a Lega side that tried, but were unable to beat the San Sebastian goal. In stoppage time, Oyarzabal scored the definitive 0-3 to seal the game.
The pepineros now have fifteen points in the table, and their next game is next Sunday (21:00) at Montjuïc against F.C. Barcelona.
