C.D. Leganés brings on board the talent and striking power of Óscar Rodríguez

The player from Los Navalmorales returns to Butarque, where he played between 2018 and 2020, and signs for the next two seasons.

C.D. Leganés reached an agreement with Sevilla F.C. for the signing of 26-year-old midfielder Óscar Rodríguez Arnaiz for the next two seasons. The Spanish senior international will return to the Blue and Whites' shirt after having previously played for the club between 2018 and 2020.

Raised in Real Madrid's youth academy, Óscar shone in the Juvenil ‘A’ and Castilla sides, making his debut for the first team in November 2017 in a Copa del Rey match. In the summer of 2018 he arrived at Leganés on loan, making his debut in the Primera División as a Pepinero. In his first game as a starter he scored one of the goals in the victory against Barcelona (2-1) and finished the season with four goals and four assists.

His good performances led Leganés to obtain his loan again the following season. In 2019/20, Óscar became the top scorer of the team and of the club's history in the top flight, leaving several goals in the memory of the Leganés fans, such as those against Real Sociedad, Celta and Mallorca.

A full international, Óscar returns to Butarque with nearly two hundred games in the elite league.

After finishing his second loan spell at Butarque, Óscar earned a senior international cap with Spain, playing in two UEFA Nations League matches against Germany and Ukraine, and was transferred to Sevilla F.C., with whom he made his debut in the Champions League that first season. The following year he played the first half of the season as a Sevilla player, being loaned in the winter transfer window to Getafe C.F., while in the 2022/23 season he continued to accumulate games and minutes in the First Division with R.C. Celta.

Last season, Óscar returned on loan to Getafe C.F., making 28 appearances and scoring five goals. After finishing his time as a Sevilla player, the midfielder from Los Navalmorales returns to Leganés with nearly two hundred matches in the elite league behind him. He will join Borja Jiménez's training sessions this Tuesday and will wear the number ‘7’.
