C.D. Leganés reached an agreement on Thursday with Spanish-Moroccan striker Munir El Haddadi Mohamed, 28, to join the club for the next two seasons. The El Escorial-born player arrives at Butarque with extensive experience in our league behind him.
Munir was trained in several teams in the Community of Madrid before arriving at F.C. Barcelona. With the Azulgranas he played in the youth team and the reserve team before arriving in the first team in the 2014/15 season, playing minutes in the team that would end up winning the league, cup and Champions League.
Already established in the first team, in 2015/16 he would play up to 26 games, in which he would score eight goals and seven assists in a Barcelona team that won the League, Cup, European Super Cup and Club World Cup.
Extensive experience in Primera División with a long list of achievements
The following year he was loaned to Valencia, repeating his loan in 2017/18 to Deportivo Alavés, with whom he would sign his best figures in Primera División scoring fourteen goals and providing seven assists. He returned to Barcelona in 2018, although in the winter transfer window he would finally leave for Sevilla F.C., where he would remain for three and a half seasons, adding a UEFA Europa League title to his list of honours.
In 2022 he joined Getafe C.F., while last season he played for U.D. Las Palmas. Munir arrives at Leganés with more than 350 official matches and ten seasons as a professional.
A full international with Morocco, he will wear the number ‘23’.
At international level, Munir was a Spain Under-19 and Under-21 international before making his senior international debut in September 2014, in a European Championship qualifier against Macedonia. He then made his debut for Morocco in 2021, with whom he played in the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations.
A left-footed attacker who can play in any of the attacking positions, Munir will wear the number ‘23’ and the date of his presentation will be announced in the coming days.
