C.D. Leganés reinforces the centre of defence with Jackson Porozo

The Ecuadorian international arrives on loan from French club Troyes.

C.D. Leganés and ESTAC Troyes reached an agreement on Thursday to sign 24-year-old Ecuadorian international centre-back Jackson Gabriel Porozo Vernaza on loan for one season. The defender, with extensive experience at international level despite his youth, will play on loan during the 2024/25 season at Butarque.

Porozo is a right-sided centre-back trained in Ecuadorian football, with clubs such as Liga de Quito, Manta F.C. and Independiente del Valle. After spending time in Brazil in the youth teams of clubs such as Palmeiras and Santos, in 2020 he made the leap to Europe with Portuguese side Boavista. With the Portuguese side he made his debut in the First Division, gaining prominence in his second season, the 2021/22, in which he played more than 2,500 minutes.

Experience despite his youth in European football and at national team level.

At the end of this season he was transferred to French club Troyes, with whom he made 23 appearances in his debut in Ligue 1. Last season, Porozo continued to accumulate experience, first in Greece with Olympiacos, with whom he made his debut in European competitions, playing in the UEFA Europa League, and then in Turkey, playing the second half of the season with Kasimpasa.

At international level, Porozo won the South American U-20 Championship with Ecuador before making his debut with the senior national team, with whom he played in the Qatar 2022 World Cup and was also called up for the last Copa America held this summer. Porozo, who has a large wingspan, a good aerial game and a good way with the ball, will join Borja Jiménez's training sessions this Saturday, will wear the number ‘4’ and his presentation date will be announced in the next few days.
