C.D. Leganés returns to LALIGA visiting Osasuna

The ‘pepineros’ return to the First Division four years later at El Sadar (Saturday, 19:00).

C.D. Leganés visit C.A. Osasuna this Saturday (19:00) at the El Sadar stadium, in a match corresponding to the first matchday of LALIGA EA SPORTS 2024/25. The Pepineros return to the First Division four years later, and want to get off to a good start on their return to the elite.

Four years have passed since Leganés left the top flight. After four seasons in the First Division, the first in their history, the Pepineros played another four seasons in LALIGA HYPERMOTION until, on 2 June, they achieved their second promotion to the top flight in Butarque in that unforgettable match against Elche, which put the icing on the cake of a spectacular season.

Two and a half months later, Lega are back in the top flight with new additions to the squad in goalkeepers Juan Soriano and Dmitrovic, full-back Rosier, midfielders Roberto López, Óscar and Tapia, and the return of on-loan players Javi Hernández, Lalo, Avilés and Naim. Alongside them, the core of the promoted team will try to take their first step towards permanence this Saturday in Pamplona, where Jorge Sáenz will be absent through injury.

Osasuna, to start the Vicente Moreno era with victory at home

For their part, Osasuna are embarking on a new era after the departure of Jagoba Arrasate from the bench at El Sadar after six seasons as coach, and the arrival of Vicente Moreno, who will make his official debut against Leganés. The Navarrese side are heading into their sixth consecutive season in the Primera División after finishing eleventh last term, and are looking to kick off the 2024/25 campaign with three points in front of their home fans.

Apart from the bench, the main new additions to the squad are the departure of centre-back David García, who has left for Qatar, and the arrivals of Abel Bretones, from Real Oviedo, and Bryan Zaragoza, on loan from Bayern Munich. Former Pabellon players Rubén Peña and José Arnaiz, who is doubtful due to injury, remain in the Navarre squad, with Kike Barja the only absentee due to injury.

The match will be refereed by the Canarian referee, Mr. Juan Luis Pulido Santana.
